PIONEERING SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE

The transformation of an ageing building into an energy-producing powerhouse.

Built in the 1960s, the Ticon building in Drammen, Oslo, gained heritage protection due to its unique design. While respecting its historical charm, a renovation project was undertaken to cut its energy consumption drastically. The renovation aimed to maintain the building's iconic look while significantly reducing energy use. The project successfully combined innovative ConverLight Dynamic and Energy-Producing Facade Glass solutions, achieving remarkable energy efficiency, reduced carbon emissions, and architectural freedom – all while maintaining access to natural light and a stunning view.

Today, the Ticon building generates more energy than it consumes, with minimal changes to its architectural appearance. The dynamic glass used in the facade played a crucial role, contributing to 85% of the energy reduction. The transition to a more energy-efficient and sustainable profile earned the project second place in the Norwegian City Prize 2021. It stands as an excellent example of how architectural heritage and modern sustainability can harmoniously coexist.

Why Choose ConverLight?

ConverLight dynamic glass offers unparalleled architectural freedom. Our electrochromic technology in dynamic solar control glass prevents solar heat from entering the building, blocking up to 90% of heat while maintaining excellent daylight and views. ConverLight serves as an automatic climate system, reducing unwanted solar heat radiation, ensuring a comfortable indoor environment, and eliminating the need for external solar control. This makes ConverLight a highly cost-effective choice for all buildings.
