About Converlight®
ConverLight® by ChromoGenics is an electrochromic glazing technology that adapts dynamically to sunlight and temperature. It provides integrated solar control without external shading, improving energy efficiency, comfort and daylight quality in buildings.
What is Converlight?
ConverLight® is an electrochromic glazing technology integrated into insulating glass units (IGUs) to create dynamic solar-control glass. It uses a low electrical signal to adjust light transmission, providing clear views, balanced daylight and reduced cooling demand — without external shading.
Why Converlight®?
Most conventional solar-control solutions are static — with external shading systems on the façade and coatings that offer fixed light transmission. External shading systems can also create noise in windy conditions or when operated, and often require maintenance.
ConverLight® takes a different approach. The dynamic glass controls solar energy transmission with a thin electrochromic foil laminated within the glass. This integrated function reduces cooling demand and enhances indoor comfort.
That means:
– Clear views and natural daylight.
– Lower cooling demand and energy use.
– Steady comfort in changing weather.
– Suitable for both new façades and retrofits.
– Fully compatible with standard glass systems.
The Swedish innovation behind ConverLight®
Developed and produced in Uppsala, Sweden, ConverLight® builds on decades of electrochromic research from the Ångström Laboratory at Uppsala University. Our facility combines R&D, manufacturing and quality assurance under one roof to ensure consistent quality and reliable delivery. Through certified regional partners, ConverLight® integrates seamlessly into standard façade glass production. At our Uppsala facility, this innovation comes to life through advanced, tightly controlled manufacturing.
Advanced in-house manufacturing
At our facility in Uppsala, Sweden, we produce the electrochromic film that forms the core of the ConverLight® technology. With roll-to-roll sputtering, electrolyte production and clean-room lamination under one roof, we ensure precise quality control and reliable delivery. Through certified regional partners, ConverLight® solutions are supplied efficiently and sustainably for both new and retrofit projects.
